This past Saturday, I donned my finest attire and rode through Greenwich Village to the 3rd Annual Tweed Run. Described as a “metropolitan bicycle ride with a bit of style,” the Tweed Run encourages participants to dress up in their best English cycling gear (think knickers, posh hats, and of course, tweed!) and enjoy tea, scones, group rides, and dancing.
Ralph Lauren Rugby sponsored this year’s event, which was held at their store on University Place. Everyone had a great time, gawking at the man who rode his penny farthing, dancing with the handsome white poodle and sipping tea as onlookers passed by, often looking confused.
(Since we were just a few blocks away from the Occupy Wall Street protestors at Washington Square Park, one bewildered tourist asked, “Is this a protest?”)
