Fall Vignettes: Halloween Houses

Halloween Pumpkins and decorations in the west village

Keeping with the fall trend of chilly October breezes, our daily morning walks with Iggy have taken on a bit of a spooky air.

In the past week, the residents of our neighborhood have decorated the front and stoops of their buildings with pumpkins, ghosts, spiderwebs, and other creepy ornamentations. The décor ranges from simple rows of pumpkins and gourds to full-on graveyard scenes in a few of the building’s front courtyards. Spiderwebs are crawling up the façade, just like ivy, on one house, and we even spotted one large spider traipsing between a couple of brownstones on Bank Street.

But, like most things, even Halloween is fleeting. Before we know it, the silly pumpkin faces seen below will be giving way to elves and reindeer!
