A Daily Dinner: Breakfast for Dinner
On particularly lazy afternoons, we often go to perennial Smith & Ratliff favorite Murray’s Cheese for one of their signature melts. The melts all come with gooey blends of some of their best cheeses, but are then paired with everything from braised short ribs, pork belly and even fried chicken.
Their Breakfast Melt—smoked thick-cut bacon, fontina fontal cheese and a fried egg on an English muffin—is one of Laura’s favorite guilty pleasures at any time of day. It’s a perfect early dinner pick-me-up for nights when our fridge is bare.
I’m partial to the classic Murray’s Melt—a proprietary blend of cheeses on toasted Blue Ribbon pullman bread—that can be customized with various different add-ons. I mostly stick to just adding prosciutto or basil, though. Simple and delicious.
Some weeks, like this one, we’re both too busy to make the time for dinner every night. We’re just happy someone nearby makes something we can both agree on!
