We’re taking a quick break from sharing our Charleston trip to introduce to you all our new living room! (We could also use your help too, so be sure to read down to the bottom.)
We painted the walls with high-gloss Gentleman’s Gray, a Benjamin Moore color that is obviously navy rather than gray. The idea here was to match the walls to the sofa. It seems counterintuitive, but it turns out that the color-matching not only makes the sofa pop, but also makes the room’s period details truly shine.
We’ve brightened it up a bit with the coral chair I reupholstered last year, some lighter artwork (including a massive Eric LoPresti painting from Uprise Art).
We are thrilled with the way it looks, and more importantly, feels. It’s such a great escape in the late afternoon when the warm sunlight is coming through the big window.
It’s currently entered in Apartment Therapy’s Room for Color contest, so if you like it, we’d really appreciate it if you could take the time to click through and vote for it! All you have to do is click the link above and then mark our room as one of your favorites. Your votes are greatly appreciated!

I am glad I found you on Apartment Therapy. I love this room and your gold leaf dresser. I just added your blog to my reader.
Thanks! 🙂
This is beautiful! Hope the rest of your apartment makes an appearance soon. 🙂
what color is the trim?
I love the rug, can you share where you found it? Everything I find with those colors seems to be much darker.
